Career and Life

Caleb Sheppard aka Gnar (formerly Lil Gnar) is a rapper who was written up in Elevator Mag for his music video "Ride Wit Da Fye" in November 2017. He's also notable for his project, Big Bag Gnar Shit.

He got his start with fashion and skateboarding with his brand GNARCOTIC, which he started in 2013. His nickname came from his life mantra when skating "Gnarly."

Sheppard began freestyle rapping for fun as a teenager, but then got involved on a deeper level with skateboarding, and eventually, his Gnarcotic (stylized in all caps) apparel line, which he founded in 2013 and subsequently rose to attention. Gnarcotic became popular for its signature blended camouflage paint that has been worn by some of pop culture's biggest influencers. Sheppard also collaborated with numerous skateboard brands such as G59 and DGK, among several others. His friend and skateboarding partner, who started rapping under the moniker Germ, inspired Sheppard to take rapping seriously as well.

On October 26, 2017, Sheppard released his debut single "Ride Wit Da Fye", featuring Germ and produced by SS.Kev, under the stage name Lil Gnar. Within a couple weeks of being uploaded, it approached half a million streams. "Ride Wit Da Fye" served as the lead single from Lil Gnar's collaborative project with Germ, Big Bad Gnar Shit, released on February 14, 2018. The EP features a guest appearance from MadeinTYO, and its second single, "Codeine Lemonade", was released on February 6, 2018.

Gnar swiftly attracted major-label interest and signed to Capitol Records in 2018. On June 1, 2018, Capitol commercially released Gnar's third single, "Drop Top Benz" featuring Lil Skies, which later appeared on Gnar's debut mixtape, Gnar Lif3, released on September 28 of that year. The mixtape features guest appearances from Lil Skies, Travis Barker, IDK and ZillaKami, along with production from Barker, Taz Taylor, TM88, and among others. Gnar released his fourth single, "Death Note" featuring Lil Skies and Craig Xen, on June 7, 2019. The song later served as the lead single from his debut studio album, Fire Hazard, released on September 20, 2019 and also featuring appearances from YBN Nahmir, ThouxanBanFauni, Lil Yachty, UnoTheActivist, Germ, Robb Bank$, Tyla Yaweh and Lil Tracy.
